alright, Balenciaga IS BALENCIAGA. One of the best fashion houses of today, with very coveted pieces and Nicholas Ghesquière is an amazing innovative designer. Balenciaga's Spring/Summer ad campaign was lovely, architectural and heavy on futurism. BUT, I really wish Balenciaga's campaign could have been a bit more exciting. The campaign was styled by Marie-Amelie Sauve, and featured hair by Guido Palau and makeup by Pat McGrath. I love that models were used in this season's campaign though, It's been a couple of seasons since a model held a Balenciaga Campaign, Charlotte Gainsbourg did Fall 2008 and Jennifer Connelly did Spring 2008. The campaign was shot by David Sims, and I'm sure more is to come from the Balenciaga S/S 09 campaign, since various models were casted. All resources say the full castlist is, Amanda Laine, Anabela Belikova, Anna Jagodzinska, Anya Kazakova, Diana Farkhullina, Elsa Sylvan, Hanne-Gaby Odiele, Iris Strubegger, Katie Fogarty, Kinga Rajzak. But no group shots were made, model Diana Farkhullina was one to confirm that.

The Beckham's 2009 Emporio Armani Campaign
Ok, we all remember David Beckham's Infamous (bulge haha) Emporio Armani underwear campaign last year, which was a three year, £20 million contract to become the new global ambassador of the fashion house.
This year, the ever so fabulous Victoria Beckham was the star of the £12 million advertising campaign for Emporio Armani women's underwear.
Emporio Armani underwear for woman was launched more than twenty years ago, but this is the first time an international celebrity has been chosen to be the face of the campaign.
Most of you must've seen the first 3 shots of Mrs. B's campaign that was recently released. But also 3 new ones of David Beckham's were released as well. There's also a shot with both of them together, which is fabulous.

Givenchy Spring/Summer 2009 Ad Campaign
WOW! The New Givenchy campaign for Spring/Summer 2009 Ready-to-Wear is out! Shot by fashion photographers Inez Van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin, it features a Similar Black & White theme set to Givenchy's previous Fall/Winter 2008 campaign. The energy and edge is spectacular. Models in the campaign are Ana Claudia, Lakshmi Menon, Lara Stone & Mariaclara Boscono. Lara, Mariaclara, & Lakshmi were also in Givenchy's fall 2008 campaign.
Elie Saab Spring/Summer 2009 Haute Couture
Eli Saab Spring 09 Haute Couture, presented on the last day of Haute Couture Fashion week which was of course, yesterday the 28th, was to me one of my favorite collections this HC season.
Eli Saab always amazes me in Couture.
The gowns were the epitome of high class and sophistication. Capturing the essence of femininity, they were made of chiffon, silk, and plenty of embellishments. This collection was created all in pastel tones, which I love. It evoked a feeling of something quite dreamy and angelic. The details were impeccable. Gowns had floral appliqués, and sparkling embellishments, which were not over the top.
Ruffles, exaggerated hips, pouffy shoulders, tiers, and obi belts all helped create some outstanding red carpet gowns and dresses.
In the front row, there was the always chic and sophisticated Dita Von Teese. Dressed in all black Elie Saab fall 2008 , which was a jacket with large rosette details on the collar and cuffs, a pencil skirt, Christian Louboutin pumps, and a large bag, which was also detailed with rosettes.
Mischa Barton and Kanye West were also in the front row. Mischa was wearing a sparkling one-sleeved navy Elie Saab fall 2008 cocktail dress, with Cristian Louboutin's. WELL, she arrived in Louboutin's, but left the show in black Haute Couture 2009 Elie Saab heels which were in the actual show. She must have gotten them for free. Luckyyyyyy

Valentino Spring/Summer 2009 Haute Couture
So There it is, Alessandra Facchinetti , former creative director for the house of Valentino left apparently due to clashes over design direction and production costs. Her design's price range increased, and with the increase, came less buyers. The designer has previously worked for Gucci and Moncler, her departure was confirmed by the company who cited "a misaligned vision with the company."
She will be replaced by Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli who have been designing accessories alongside founder Valentino Garavani for ten years. ( curious isn't it?) The duo will become creative directors for all categories of the design house.
Their first collection after receiving the title as creative directors was of course, the S/S 2009 Haute Couture collection of today.
The first two things I instantly noticed was that Alessandra's signature heavy embellishments & embroidery were not too present. Embellishment was used in this collection, but it wasn't as present. And was in a lighter, more delicate fashion. Also I see a lot more of the house's signature red pieces. Alessandra when she was designer, did not incorporate a lot of red into her collections. This collection had some very rich colors, like the amazing Plum dress Tanya wore. I also loved the use of feathers in some dresses. It's clear that Maria & Pier captured much more of the Valentino essence then Alessandra did, yet still kept the collection very much their own. I'm sure they're there to stay. Don't get me wrong, I did like Alessandra Facchinetti's work, and she definitely delivers, I just think she wasn't right for the house of Valentino.Burberry Spring/Summer 2009 Ad Campaign

Gucci Spring/Summer 2009 Ad Campaign
yes! it's here! The Gucci S/S 2009 ad campaign. This collection was actually one of my favorites this S/S, and the shoes were to die for. I'm sure it'll be one of the most coveted shoes from this season. Designer Frida Giannini named the collection "Gucci Exotica". I love how she always names her collections. Frida always finds a tactic to work florals or foliage into the Gucci's spring collections.
The campaign was shot by Shot by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, and featured models already quite familiar with the house, that have represented Gucci before. They were Natasha Poly, Lily Donaldson, & Abbey Lee Kershaw. The campaign also includes Jonathan Frenk, Elsa Hosk, Jonatan Frenk and Mathias Bergh. Frank was recently "Model of the Week" by model.com's rankings.
Items from Gucci's S/S 2009 collection can be bought directly from the website's virtual online store.
Which I think is great, considering a lot of fashion houses don't have that option on their websites.
