PFW: John Galliano Fall/Winter 2009

John Galliano used Eastern Europe references for his fall collection this season.Using elements especially linked to Russia and Balkan folklore. The collection featured tassels, spectacular embroideries, and tufter pom-pom appliqués which were seen on coats, some being cute with wide panniered hips and structured volume. Soon after, some milkmaid numbers were seen, along with puffy peasant blouses. Coin jewelry was heavily seen, along with elaborate headdresses. Models wore extremely high boots, a lot being lace-up and had pom-pom attached.
Some jackets were seen with trailing sleeve appendages which contributed to a dramatic silhouette. The colour pallet included some saturated tones, such as hot pink, purple, blues, and crimson.
For eveningwear, Galliano referenced romantic elements, introducing a number of magical, ethereal wistful dresses, casted in shimmery white, silver and gray hues.
