PFW: Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 2009

Marc Jacobs at Louis Vuitton definitly closed Paris Fashion Week with something to remember. This season presented a large collection and definitely ignoring the global economic recession. He did what he does best and gave it his all. Backstage he stated:
“Yes, there’s a crisis, but one can carry on and contribute to beauty and optimism and gorgeousness. I have a practical mind — cut the party and celebrities [a reference to his New York approach], but you can’t sacrifice the beauty of the clothes.”

Marc Jacobs gave us ruffles, bows, Playboy bunny ears, pom-poms and lot of ruching.
There was a disco-punk prom theme with lots of shoulders and puffy skirts, which created lots of volume, as did the multi-coloured layered skirts. The collection features mini tulip skirts, delicate lace blouses, knit cardigans, bubble skirts, bejeweled leggings and beautiful black tailored skirt suits. One dress, in midnight blue, had a sheer black lace bodice, capelet and overlay, side shirring, pink peplum and a bow on each hip.
The collection's colour pallet was fantastic, including tones of coral, electric blue, fuchsia, crimson red and bright yellow, jade, and glossy blacks.
The accessories when talking about Louis Vuitton speak for themselves, as you would expect, they were all lustful. Bags and clutches were seen throughout the collection, some ruffled or with sequined monogram. Shoes were high and definitely elaborately constructed, seen as a pump and thigh high version, which were really big this season.
